1) Singlet oxygen generation, diffussion and reactivity

The generation, diffusion and reactivity of singlet molecular oxygen in homogeneous condensed phases and in microheterogeneous systems is studied, particularly employing sugar based sensitizers (glycosensitizers), to allow specific recognition by lectins and specific applications in bacteria inactivation.

2) Design, synthesis and photophysics characterization of fluorescent prodesign bes

We design, synthesize and spectroscopically characterize fluorescent organic compounds, particularly probes, able to monitor microscopic properties of several selected media, ie cell membranes.

3) Physical chemical characterization of microheterogeneous systems

The physicochemical properties of mixed micro-heterogeneous systems (micelles, reverse micelles, vesicles) containing as main constituent biocompatible nonionic surfactants particularly those formulated from carbohydrates are studied. Also we focus our interest to polymeriyc sistems containing ionizable groups, able to form films.
